Sowega Council on Aging
Participants will learn how to transition from the traditional senior center model to the Senior Center Without Walls model. They will learn the successes and the challenges that have come with the implementation of this model, including how to provide the same level of programs and services to clients remotely.

Marie Gress is a licensed master-level macro social worker with specialties in older adults and technology working at the intersection of capacity, competency, and community in the aging sector. In addition to her larger organizational development work, Marie manages two dozen websites, two virtual senior centers with mobile apps, designed a BSW/MSW course on Social Work and Technology, and offers tech support & digital project management for non-profits. She is the Chief Growth Strategist at Kovir LLC, adjunct professor at Eastern Michigan University, Vice-Chair on Washtenaw County's Commission on Aging (MI), senior center executive coach, and enjoys offering mentorship to macro social workers in the aging sector.

Margo Fine-Gabbay

Margo has been working with families and older adults for over 25 years. She holds a BA in Human Development Social Relations, and a MFT (Master’s in Family Therapy) from Hahnemann University (now Drexel). She has extensive experience designing, coordinating, and running psychoeducational support groups, community aging in place programs, and managing senior centers. A creative, strategic thinker with a holistic view, Margo understands thoroughly the needs and goals of older adults and their families and designs services and programs that meet these needs. She has a passion for helping motivate seniors to improve their health and wellness and reach their maximum potential, and is committed to using technology to accomplish these goals.
Katie Mahon

Katie has been working with families and older adults in the Greater Philadelphia area for over 14 years. Katie joined Wayne Senior Center in 2016 as Program Director, where she developed and expanded the Center’s program offerings, including the innovative “Chef’s Table at Wayne Senior Center” Series, which was awarded Program of the Year for 2019 by the Pennsylvania Association of Senior Centers. In April 2019 Katie was named Executive Director of Wayne Senior Center. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Katie holds a BS in Counseling and Human Services from The University of Scranton.
Madeline Barnes
Director of Technology & Evidence-Based Programming AgeWell at the JCC

Madeline is the current Director of Technology and Evidence-Based Programming. She joined the AgeWell at the JCC staff in September 2018 as a program coordinator. Prior to joining the AgeWell team, she completed an AmeriCorps service year program under the National Health Corps. Madeline holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health from the University of Maryland, and is a Certified Health Education Specialist. In her current role, she oversees the expansion of various programs for older adults, including the Virtual Senior Academy.
Sharon Feinman
Division Director, AgeWell at the JCC
Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh
Sharon is the Division Director of AgeWell at the JCC and oversees all older adult programming, program expansions, grant management, and community partnerships. She also continues in her role as an AgeWell Pittsburgh collaboration coordinator. Previously, Sharon was the Assistant Department Director and supervised community-wide expansion of evidenced-based and evidence-informed programs and has also held the position of Health and Wellness Program Coordinator for older adults. Sharon holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) and has over sixteen years’ experience working in the aging field. She is certified in The Grantsmanship Center Training Program, SilverSneakers Exercise, Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program and Walk with Ease, Enhanced Fitness, Healthy Steps for Older Adults, UCLA Longevity Center’s Memory Training, Partners in Care Foundation HomeMeds Medication Assurance Program, and many more.
Jami Harper

Sowega Council on Aging
Jami Harper is currently the Community Programs Manager for the Sowega Council on Aging (SCOA) in Albany, Georgia, where she oversees the home and community-based programs and services in southwest Georgia – including the Senior Center without Walls (SCWW) Nutrition Program and Transportation Program. She also serves as the facilitator of the agency Advisory Council and Senior Hunger Coalition for the southwest Georgia region. She is a member of the GCOA-CO-AGE, Georgia Gerontology Society (GGS) and has served in various GGS capacities over her 17 years with the agency, including, Chair of the Award Committee, Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice President. Jami graduated with a B.S.B. in Marketing and a B.S. in Recreation Administration from Emporia State University. She is also a Group Exercise Instructor, Children’s Sunday School teacher, choir member and piano player. Jami is married to Dan Harper, a United Methodist pastor for the Southwest Georgia District and they have one daughter. She enjoys cooking, walking, sports, travel, and outdoor adventure activities.
Izzie Sadler

Sowega Council on Aging
Izzie Sadler is the Executive Director for the Sowega Council on Aging (SCOA) and has worked with the organization for 10 years in various capacities. Izzie first joined the SCOA team as the Development Director, responsible for fundraising and marketing. One of her greatest accomplishments in that role was working on the Kay H. Hind Senior Life Enrichment Center project that consisted of a 45,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility which is the hub for the agency’s 14-county operations. As a part of this project, Izzie spear-headed the campaign which brought the building to fruition. In her time as Executive Director, the SCOA team has focused on developing effective and innovative programs that serve seniors in new and creative ways. In 2021, the SCOA team won the AAA Excellence in Innovations award for the senior center without walls program that was implemented throughout the southwest Georgia region as a solution to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to her work with the SCOA, Izzie served as the Development Director, Wellness Director, and Senior Program Director for the Albany Area YMCA. Izzie has also owned and operated a tennis and golf pro-shop, managing merchandise, sales, programs, and events.
Erin Kee McGovern (Moderator)

National Council on Aging
Erin Kee McGovern, JD, is a Director of Programs, Center for Benefits Access at the National Council on Aging (NCOA). Erin oversees NCOA’s Benefits Enrollment Centers and Senior SNAP Enrollment Initiative. These two programs are aimed at significantly increasing older adults’ participation in Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs (MSP), Extra Help (Part D Low Income Subsidy/LIS), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) through community-based outreach and enrollment initiatives. Erin provides training to a nationwide network of social service providers on eligibility and application guidelines for these key benefits programs. Erin also provides recommendations on proposed federal legislation and regulations, particularly on how changes will impact the most vulnerable people. In 2013, she published an article on increasing SNAP participation at farmers’ markets in the Clearing House Review: Journal of Poverty Law and Policy. Erin graduated with honors from the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC, earned her Juris Doctor at the University of South Carolina School of Law, Columbia, SC, and her Master’s in Environmental Law and Policy at Vermont Law School, South Royalton, VT.
