Rep. Debbie Dingell

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell represents Michigan’s 12th Congressional District and serves in House Leadership as a Co-chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee. She is a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, where she leads on critical issues including affordable and accessible health care. Dingell is focused on bringing people together – in Congress and in her communities – to support Michigan’s families and the economy. Her collaborative workstyle lends itself to bicameral work, most importantly on long-term care, as she authored the Better Care Better Jobs Act with Senator Bob Casey to strengthen and expand access to home and community-based services while also supporting the direct care workforce. As a fierce advocate for reform to our nation’s broken health care system, she is also the co-author of Medicare For All to finally guarantee care for all Americans.

Wendell Primus

Senior Policy Advisor for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

Wendell Primus is the Senior Policy Advisor on Budget and Health issues to Speaker Nancy Pelosi.  In that capacity, he was the lead staffer in developing the Affordable Care Act.  He also played a major role in the SGR legislation in 2015 and various budget agreements.  Prior to this appointment in March, 2005, Dr. Primus was the Minority Staff Director at the Joint Economic Committee. He has also held positions at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, served in the Clinton Administration at the Department of Health and Human Services and also served as Chief Economist for the House Ways and Means Committee and Staff Director for the Committee's Subcommittee on Human Resources.  Dr. Primus received his Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State University.

Stuart Portman

Senior Health Policy Advisor at U.S. Senate Committee on Finance

U.S. Senate

Stuart Portman serves as Senior Health Policy Advisor on the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance for Ranking Member Mike Crapo. In this capacity, he handles all policies related to Medicaid and CHIP, and in the past has led policy development on issues related to the ACA Exchanges, health taxes, and health information technology. Previously, he served as the Senior Healthcare Legislative Assistant and Legislative Correspondent for Senator Orrin G. Hatch, where he focused on Medicaid, FDA-related policies, public health, and issues affecting rare diseases and individuals with disabilities. Stuart received his Master of Public Health degree specializing in health policy from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University and his Bachelor’s in Biology and Political Science from the University of Denver.

Howard Bedlin

Howard Bedlin has led NCOA's legislative advocacy efforts on issues and programs of concern to older adults for the past 25 years, which include the Older Americans Act, Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care, income security, and community services. Prior to joining NCOA, he worked for the American Association of Homes for the Aging (now LeadingAge), the National Association for Home Care, and AARP. Howard received his law degree and Master of Policy Science from the University of Maryland, and Bachelor’s in Political Science from Binghamton University in New York.

June Simmons is President and CEO of Partners in Care Foundation. Over the past two decades, June has pioneered the development and scaling of innovative, evidence-based interventions for management of medications at home, self-management of chronic conditions, coordinated care to improve health outcomes, and care transitions.

Throughout her distinguished career, she has been instrumental in envisioning, creating, funding, and operating forward-looking health and social service programs that meet the mutual needs of patient populations, health care delivery networks and health plans. Her priority is sustainable, cost-effective, patient-driven integration of care across settings, from primary care and hospital to home and community in the 21st century.
