    Dianne Stone has more than 20 years of experience with senior centers and aging issues, primarily as the Director of the Newington Senior and Disabled Center in Newington, Connecticut. Stone has also worked, volunteered, and held leadership positions with a variety of organizations in Connecticut, including Connecticut AgeWell Collaborative, the ADA Coalition of Connecticut, Connecticut Medicaid Oversight Council, and the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity. She joined NCOA in January 2022, as a member of the Center for Healthy Aging, where she is primarily focused on supporting senior centers throughout the country through the ACL-funded Modernizing Senior Centers Resource Center and NISC.

    This is the December call for the Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Enrollment Centers (SECs). In this webinar, grantees will: 

    1. Gain an understanding of the BenefitsCheckUp tool. 

    2. Learn key features of the white label (SEC specific) BenefitsCheckUp sites. 

    3. Explore the Benefits Participation Map tool and identify ways that this tool can assist SEC work.

    Nicole leads NCOA’s digital economic security team – responsible for the product development, content management, customer service, and partner engagement for BenefitsCheckUp, Age Well Planner and My Medicare Matters. These digital tools are built around NCOA’s multi-faceted consumer engagement model – providing (1) unbiased education from a trusted source, (2) personalized insights via assessments and tools, and (3) the opportunity to take action by engaging with an expert. Primarily targeting older adults and their caregivers to improve their health and financial security, the tools support NCOA’s social impact goal to impact the health and economic security of 40 million older adults by 2030, especially women, people of color, LGBTQ+, low-income, and rural individual. 

    Kerry Glova

    Associate Director, Research and Evaluation

    National Council on Aging

    Kerry is the Associate Director for Research and Evaluation at the National Council on Aging (NCOA). At NCOA, Kerry supports the execution of NCOA’s research and evaluation agenda, focused on building evidence used to advocate for programs and policies that serve older adults, especially those most in need. Kerry works collaboratively across NCOA to design research methodologies, produce meaningful measures, and analyze the organization’s social impact progress toward impacting 40 million older adults by 2030. Previously, Kerry was the Director of Research and Evaluation at Catholic Charities USA, working to illustrate the size, scope, and impact of the network’s 160+ service provider member agencies. Kerry is passionate about translating community-based programming into impactful data to influence systematic change. Kerry holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Pittsburgh; she holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Point Park University.

    Older adults and adults with disabilities residing in rural communities across the nation are aging in place while managing ongoing health conditions. While rural communities may offer close community connections and critical networks of support, they can also present challenges in accessing health care and community-based services. Evidence-based health education, such as chronic disease self-management programs, is vital in complementing clinical care and building the everyday skills to improve quality of life.

    Older adults and adults with disabilities residing in rural communities across the nation are aging in place while managing ongoing health conditions.     This webinar will introduce and explore the practical and adaptable toolkit developed from our roundtable discussions on engaging rural communities in health education. The toolkit offers best practices for building and advancing community partnerships, enhancing participant engagement, adapting and effectively delivering evidence-based programs, and overcoming key barriers in rural communities, such as transportation and connectivity for virtual access to care.

    Tom Kamber is the founder and executive director of Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) and Senior Planet. He is a leading expert on aging and technology and is regularly featured in national media. Under his leadership, OATS and Senior Planet have developed award-winning programs for older adults across America and are now charitable affiliates of AARP. Tom has taught courses on technology, urban studies, and philanthropy at Columbia University, is widely published in professional and academic journals, and has presented his work on five continents. He is also a co-founder of the Afro-Latin Jazz Alliance (which has won multiple Grammy awards) and serves on several nonprofit boards of directors and public commissions. 

    Jen Paquet

    Director of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

    Healthy Living for ME®(HL4ME®), Maine's Community Care Hub, a division of Spectrum Generations

    Jen Paquet serves as the Director of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Healthy Living for ME®(HL4ME®), Maine's Community Care Hub, a division of Spectrum Generations. She began her journey with Spectrum Generations, the Central Maine Area Agency on Aging, in 2014.

    In her present capacity, Jen oversees the statewide implementation of HL4ME’s Network of Community Partners' Evidence Based Programs. Her responsibilities include overseeing network performance, ensuring quality assurance, identifying, and promoting best practices, and upholding program fidelity.

    In 2020, she was honored with Spectrum Generations ‘Distinguished Employee of the Year’ award. Spectrum Generations has also been awarded several grants from Administration for Community Living, including 2016, 2018, and 2021 Chronic Disease Self-Management Education awards, the 2019 Falls Prevention award, and the 2021 Community Care Hub award.

    Ashley Washington

    Senior Director of Aging Initiatives

    Lutheran Services in America/Rural Aging Action Network

    Ashley Washington serves as the Senior Director of Aging Initiatives at Lutheran Services in America. In this role, Ashley supports the work of members who provide home- and community-based programs to support the healthy, independent aging of older adults in America. 

    In this role, Ashley leads the Rural Aging Action Network, our national collaborative dedicated to expanding sustainable community-based services and supports for older adults who are underserved in rural Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. 

    Ashley previously served as the Director of Healthcare Forums at The Health Management Academy where she managed peer-learning programs for C-suite healthcare executives. Prior, she was a Health Systems Manager for the American Cancer Society where she co-led a national workgroup working with VA Medical Centers on veterans' cancer care and partnered with health systems to identify interventions for their patient populations. Ashley also served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant with the U.S. State Department in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. 

    Ashley has a Master of Public Health from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and a B.A. from Wake Forest University.

    Allyson comes to NCOA from Evolent Health Care, where she worked as a Customer Care Coordinator. While there she was responsible for handling customer service requests, communicating with physician’s offices to verify authorization information, developing relationships with provider groups, and making triage decisions not requiring clinical judgement. Allyson also worked as a Senior Care Coordinator and a Senior Customer Service Advisor for CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, a Care Coordinator for AmeriHealth Caritas, and a Case Specialist for INTotal Health. Allyson brings a wealth of practical knowledge about benefits and has experience implementing regulations/policies in the insurance industry, as well as experience working with Medicaid offices in DC and Virginia.
