Older Workers

Federal support for employment and training programs is even more important during the economic downturn that has occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now is the time for Congress to step up and invest at least $480.9 million in the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP).

Medicare

To meet the needs of increasing numbers of Medicare beneficiaries and the growing complexities of coverage, funding for the Medicare State Health insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) needs to be at least $79.5 million in the coming year. Help us make the case to Congress by sharing with your Senators and Representatives the need for this assistance for the older adults in your community.

Falls Prevention

Proven community-based falls prevention programs have significantly reduced falls rates and health care costs, with considerable returns on investment. Yet federal funding to expand their reach has been stagnant. Help us make the case for investing at least $14 million in falls prevention by sharing your own stories and successes with your Senators and Representatives.

Healthy Aging

Funding for Chronic Disease Self-Management Education should be increased from $8 million to $16 million to expand access to evidence-based, cost-effective chronic disease management programs to a greater number of states and older adults in need across the country. Share your stories of older adults' health struggles and successes with your Senators and Representatives to help us make the case for these much-needed investments.

Age Discrimination in Employment

It’s time to level the playing field for older workers and stop age discrimination. Join NCOA in urging Congress to swiftly pass the bipartisan Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act (POWADA).
