Qinektd LLC (pronounced Connected) is a female owned small business based in Northern Virginia. The mission of Qinektd is to provide tools and resources for caregivers of people living with dementia.
How does Qinektd benefit caregivers? Why Qinektd?
Caregivers of people living with dementia experience a greater risk to develop adverse health outcomes like anxiety, dementia, depression, heart disease, sleep problems, and stress. By providing support to the caregivers of people living with dementia, caregiver quality of life improves and there is a corresponding delay for people living with dementia to enter assisted living facilities. Thus, providing more support for caregivers benefits both the caregiver and their loved ones living with this condition. At Qinektd, we understand that dementia caregiving is unique. The amount of information out there is voluminous, and it can be difficult to know where to begin. We aim to make the caregiving process simpler by providing curated links to assist with many important dementia caregiver topics including; finding local resources in your county, clinical trials, dementia veteran benefits, and more – all in one place. We assist in providing information so caregivers can spend more time caring, not searching. We are doing the searching for you.
Why is this so important?
In 2020, approximately 55 million people worldwide were living with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Alzheimer’s Disease Related Dementia (ADRD), and by 2030, this number is expected to reach 78 million. The extensive care needs of individuals with AD/ADRD are variable, and care typically involves great demands on spouses and other family members or friends. Because care also requires coordination with a wide range of community and healthcare providers, it is often associated with high out-of-pocket costs, estimated to exceed $200 billion dollars a year. While many studies have been developed to improve care or support care providers, many times the caregiver is given (i) tips for coping, (ii) strategies to assist with dementia-related behavior, or (iii) lists of paid care options.
