I. 10:00 am Welcome and Opening Remarks

Background: Obesity today affects more than 42% of American adults. Medical cost estimates of adult obesity now range from $147 billion to $210 billion a year. Obesity is a health problem for women and men of all ages, races, and backgrounds in America. However, obesity rates are consistently higher for American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian elders and Black and Hispanic adults than for non-Hispanic white adults. Our dialogue will focus on obesity and other chronic diseases as a public health problem for older adults of all races and backgrounds in America and we will underscore impactful solutions.
II. 10:05 am Setting the Stage

Background: As the discussant, Dr. Stanford brings the lens of an obesity medicine physician and scientist to the table as she presents a brief overview and sets the stage for the discussion. Afterwards, each of the Roundtable organizations are invited to make opening remarks with short 5-minute presentations. Dr. Stanford will facilitate the morning discussion.
III. 10:25 am Perspectives on Obesity and Health Inequities
Background: Participants are invited to provide key issues facing their population. Address the overall issues and health inequities related to obesity and potential policy changes and interventions that could have the greatest impact on treatment and coverage gaps, risk factors, chronic disease management, stigma, and inequities. Slides may be used and can be found in the Meeting Packet tab above.

Background: After hearing key issues from each group, key takeaways will be discussed, Dr. Stanford will then open the dialogue and begin discussion of possible solutions and recommendations towards a holistic and equitable approach to obesity prevention and management treatment among older adults.
