Did you ever wonder what physical therapists do? Or if they could help an older adult who recently stopped going to your exercise classes and started using a cane? And if they could help, where do you find a physical therapist and who would pay for the service? This 30-minute webinar will describe the role of physical therapy in older adult health and wellness and how senior centers and other community-based organizations can partner with physical therapists to improve their programs and services.

Dianne Stone has more than 20 years of experience with senior centers and aging issues, primarily as the Director of the Newington Senior and Disabled Center in Newington, Connecticut. Stone has also worked, volunteered, and held leadership positions with a variety of organizations in Connecticut, including Connecticut AgeWell Collaborative, the ADA Coalition of Connecticut, Connecticut Medicaid Oversight Council, and the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity. She joined NCOA in January 2022, as a member of the Center for Healthy Aging, where she is primarily focused on supporting senior centers throughout the country through the ACL-funded Modernizing Senior Centers Resource Center and NISC.

She was funded by the CDC to develop the OEP online training and study OEP implementation in the United States. She has developed and tested virtual versions and community-based delivery modes of the OEP. She has a BA in communication from UC San Diego, a Master’s in Physical Therapy from UC San Francisco, and a PhD in Movement Science from UNC Chapel Hill.
